Industrial Engineering Intern Job Description
Our Industrial Engineering Intern will work directly with operations’ Industrial Engineers and will help to document current procedures and production rates to drive greater efficiency throughout the organization. Hosted by the Director of Operations, our Industrial Engineering intern will have the opportunity to evaluate and implement a packaging cell in our Sock Department. This will require an analysis of our current production system to determine a feasible solution to integrate with our future state conveyance system. This role will allow interns to put classroom concepts to practice in a real manufacturing environment. Interns will learn more about manufacturing processes and methods through close work with industrial engineers, software developers, and our management team to make an impact at Filtration Systems.
Duties and Responsibilities
Learn about our current manufacturing processes
Lead project analysis and justification for implementation of a Packaging Cell
Perform time studies of various operations to create process improvement
Perform SLP analysis and develop cell layouts in production
Learn to operate company ERP system (Epicor) to facilitate other projects within the company
Demonstrate flexibility and enthusiasm to work on other engineering projects and tasks assigned
Plan and execute 5S implementation
Skills and Specifications
Past experience/knowledge with capital equipment justifications
Proficient in MS Office
Passionate for continuous improvement
Excellent communication skills and the ability to develop good working relationships with assembly employees, other engineers and interns, and management
Demonstrates critical thinking and innovative, effective problem-solving skills
Good oral and written communication skills
Education and Qualifications
Junior or Senior standing working towards a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or related field
Available full-time over the summer, approximately 40 hours per week
